Heroes Worth Watching
55Have you ever loved a hero? What made you love them? Was it that they did what no-one else would do? We all have this power. All we need to do is decide to use our powers and not be scared of them.
Do you feel like you do not belong? Do you feel as if you are different than others? Watch the show “Heroes”. Yes, the previews make it seem like it is all about freaks with super powers. But actually it is about being different and what can happen when you are different.
Now, don’t get me wrong…Heroes is all about people with super powers. However, it is also about how these people find a way to get along with their “normal” neighbors. Does the government hunt them down for being different? You bet!! Relentlessly hunted, these heroes still find time to support each other and others without special powers.
A Trailer for Heroes
Peter Tries to Save the Cheerleader and Saves the World
Hiro Nakamura-Time Traveler and Swordsman Extrodinaire
These “heroes” do not want to build a world they have conquered. These heroes are here to help us all. You soon find out that there are others with “super powers” that really do want to control the world. These are the people our heroes defy. Some are heads of corporations, some are part of the government, but the "true" heroes know they cannot give up.
As it happens in life, so it happens on this show. There are heroes who are confused and are not really sure what side they are on. There are humans who side with the heroes, but these are few and far between. And, of course, there are evil heroes, who use their powers for self, greed and power. So we end up with, basically, the good, the bad, and the ugly.
Do you feel different? Do you just not fit in, no matter how you try? Do you feel the world is against you? Watch Heroes! Watch the cheerleader…watch Peter…get to know Matt. They know what it is to be different. They know what it is to be hunted for their differences. They understand.
Claire, The Cheerleader
Noah Bennett, Claire's Father--No Super Powers except Love
Even ordinary humans are involved. The cheerleader, Claire’s, dad, has no super power. Because of the love of his daughter, he protects these heroes. Granted he is like a double agent, because he works for the “agency” that hunts them down. But in being there he does more good for these people than bad.
In the first season, I could not stand the man! Now he is one of my favorite characters. He is just a man trying to do the best he can for his family. He often makes human mistakes, but his character and love of his family shines through every episode.
My favorite character is Hiro Nakamura. He is convinced he is a hero, not just a hiro. He is innocent and learned at the same time. He loves the human race and is convinced of our ultimate goodness. Hiro is a true hero! He helps, he loves, he has hope and he gives. We really need more people like him in our world!
A Hiro Can Save Us
Just how different are you? Me? I am pretty different. Most people do not understand how I think. But that’s OK. I just need to keep being myself and maybe I can help them learn a better way. Maybe I can help them understand it is good to be different. Or, maybe I can talk them into watching Heroes, and finding out for themselves how good different can be.
I think it is good to be different, but then I also love taking tests. Many people are scared of difference and change. We need to learn that different is an opportunity...an opportunity to learn and grow. Change is the only constant in our world. I love change, I love growth, and I love "Heroes".
Here is a quick survey that I thought would be fun to answer if you have seen the show!
· Who is your favorite Heroes character?
· Which season is your favorite?
· If you were a hero what kind of power would you want to have?
· Would you be a good hero or an evil hero?
· Do YOU have a special power? (special can range from optimism to laser eyes) :)

Never watch this stuff, maybe I need to huh? I have many heroes I look up to. thanks k@ri
Heroes is the only TV show I watch these days. I love it. I'd love to be able to have superpowers for good! Great hub!
Great hub. I havent watched it yet, but Ill start watching it sooon.
Did not know of this show, and for two reasons
1. I don't live in USA, and it has not yet come to Israel
2. I don't watch much TV.
Your most enlightening remark is right at the beginning:
But actually it is about being different and what can happen when you are different.
That has nothing to do with have extraordinary powers like these heroes have, but something we can all do. To become heroes? To my mind, to create a life that we want.
Heroes..
..yes, they want to free us from a world of eeevil. I really need to get into this more.
Heroes was a great show the first season but it got pretty old after that. I really liked The 4400, which had a similar premise but was unfortunately canceled. It's interesting to think of what our world would be like if a few people did possess special powers. Great hub.
I have never seen the show but heroes are alright, I am about to go watch the new Green Lantern cartoon when I am done here. I took a course in university at one point called "Comics and Cartoons after WWII". Comic books are good too (some!) ... one way to keep my nephew reading and away from video games lol
